Staying High Vibrations

Early on in my practice, I asked a pool of my patients to write down their thoughts for 24 hours and the results were astounding. I knew that many of them were shrouded in negativity but when it turned out that 95% of all the thoughts I read were negative, I was taken back. These thoughts are so damaging to our health. "Left untreated, negative thoughts can lead to depression, ruined relationships, alcohol and substance abuse, financial problems, health problems, body pain, anxiety, bad decision making, and accelerated aging." Each day is a brilliant opportunity. It's the chance to turn things around, be positive, yield results, and rise above negativity. In order to do this, we have to make the conscious decision to raise our vibrations and surround ourselves with people who share our goals. Those first thoughts we have each morning determine whether we'll be able to spread positivity and light to everyone around us or burden ourselves with negative thoughts and actions. Spend a day observing yourself. How do you respond to the things around you? What kind of company do you keep?

If you find that your friends are prone to wallowing and complaining, your thoughts always spiral towards impending dooms and you don't respond to stress in a positive and healthy way, then you're on your way to experiencing some of the symptoms of burn out. Here are a few tools to get yourself out of the darkness.

· Make a positive mantra and say it every day. It can be something as simple as "Today is going to be a good day." This tells your brain you're making the conscious decision to be more positive. Even something so little can make a huge impact.

· Go for a walk! When you start feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to walk outside, appreciate nature, focus on your breathing, and realign your soul in your body.

· Journal daily. Write about things you're thankful for. Every single thing you do to raise your vibrations is a step in the right direction.
